Marvel has done it again! For the “80 years of Captain America”, a new series is set to be released with one gay Captain America to be featured! An openly gay LGBTQ+ activist!

In the new series to be released “United States of Captain America”, the classic heroes, Steve Rodgers, John Walker, Bucky Barnes, Sam Wilson are on an adventure to find Captain’s lost shield. Along the way, they meet other heroes inspired by the original Captain. One such character and hero being Aaron Fischer. Fischer, “Captain American of the Railways” and his shield fight to protect transgender homeless youth.

Fischer’s story is written by Josh Trujillo and illustrated by Jan Balzadua, and let me tell you! Everything I have read from these two, you just feel the love for this character and the community.

“Aaron [Fischer] is inspired by heroes of the queer community: activists, leaders, and everyday folks pushing for a better life,” in a statement from Trujillo. “He stands for the oppressed, and the forgotten. I hope his debut story resonates with readers and helps inspire the next generation of heroes.”

Balzadua is also a member of the LGBTQ+ community, as she is transgender herself. She was quoted in the press thanking Trujillo and editor Alanna Smith, as well as talking about the project, “I really enjoyed designing him, and as a transgender person, I am happy to be able to present an openly gay person who admires Captain America and fights against evil to help those who are almost invisible to society.”

Captain America was one of my little enby’s early on cosplays so Captain always holds a special place in our heart. And to be honest, it was my kiddo that had caught this even before I did! We’re counting down till release!

Fischer will be debuting just in time for PRIDE Month, June 2nd.

From what I have learned this may be a variant cover comic situation, so keep your eyes peeled, and good luck with getting your pre-orders in. I know we’re excited!

As for you DC Fans, it also seems like DC may be taking note of Marvel’s LGBTQ+ character presence as there appears to be more talks of a gay hero in the Justice League as well. Though we all know depending on the series Harley and Poison Ivy have also shared some relationship time. But we love seeing all the representation! Especially in our Heroes! Bring on the ALL Queer Justice League Series! I’m sooo here for it!
