I honestly did not know what to expect when I let my YouTube suggestion go on autoplay mode. But, hey, I talk about mental health frequently and follow Kevin Smith so this particular suggestion doesn’t seem too out of left field. I had also seen his Instagram post prior, but I guess it didn’t really register. I possibly just skimmed it like maybe this will be another round of his sharing. Mentally thinking like his widow-maker heart-attack incident. Don’t get me wrong, that’s definitely something and pretty traumatic, but even he pokes fun at himself for oversharing it. He really likes repeating and oversharing, but I’m a Smith fan and I totally get it. But this wasn’t like that, at all! This video got to me! And was so relatable in so many ways. I had not expected that!

Probably needless to say, but I think everyone should watch this, or use this when trying to explain to others your mental health recovery process. Especially, for those trying to explain their trauma and process. This is something to share!

The only thing I would like to caution you is that he does mention sexual assault (S.A.) so maybe wait till you are in a space to listen or skip ahead a bit, but what he says is 100% spot on! “Trauma is trauma!”

Another reason, I highly recommend this, is he shares a lot of techniques that many of our therapists have been working with us on. What he says is legit! This isn’t just random ramblings, this is clinical techniques that I myself have even been given.

I will let him do the explaining because you really need to watch. To make it easy for you, here it is below. Hugs as we all work through our processes! –

Thank you, Kevin Smith, for being so brave to open up and share about some truly deep subjects. Thank you for normalizing getting help. And, the biggest thank you for giving space to all those working through their traumas without comparison to others.

Did you watch it yet? Let’s talk about it below.
