You may have Pokémon Sword, but do you have Pokémon Shield???

I should probably start this with my family are a little biased and have way too much love for Nintendo, let alone Pokémon.

So, I guess it would be no surprise that we love Pokémon Sword…and Shield!

It was a tough call on which to start with, but with letting kiddo doing lots of research we kicked it off with Sword. Eventually, we got lucky enough to have Nintendo send over Shield. But now, there’s even MORE!

Totally, like “You may have Sword and Shield, but do you have the Expansion Pass (including, Isle of Armor and the Tundra)???” I swear we love these games because it’s like once we’ve finally think we’ve caught all the Pokémon there’s suddenly something else.

In fact, did you know it’s almost the 25th Anniversary…Birthday for the Pokémon! Talk about always “evolving.”

Very thankful for that, I actually couldn’t imagine our quarantine without having our Nintendo Switch. Between all the Pokémon options and the release of Animal Crossing, our tween and us (parents-adults) have had a little more distraction on hand.

Pokémon

Personally, I think the best thing about Pokémon and what always brings us back is that collector’s specific personality. In my case, “cute collector.” I just want all the cute ones! My partner likes it for competitive-fighter type, he wants a winning collection. Where the kiddo is all for the odd and strange. They are just a sucker for some of those pokémon’s backstories.

It’s also fun to be able to customize your trainer’s looks (even if you have to earn adjustments, but it’s not that far into the game).

So with Sword and Shield, we get new funky little pokémon, and of course, they are immediately drawn to Scorbunny. Gonna say that’s mostly cause they are a Fire-type, and mixed with a bunny. It wasn’t till starting Shield that they recently realized their love of Grookey (leaf-monkey). Just a perfect little odd and cute pokémon.

I actually was asking my kiddo just the other day about preferences and favorites. My kid has onesies now of Pikachu and Umbreon, but their absolute favorite is Mimikyu. A very oddball pokémon, with a backstory that they being a tween, are totally identifying with. And Mimikyu wasn’t even around until Sun and Moon in 2016.

For me, I’m just waiting to find one of the new Legendaries, like Glastrier and Spectier. (I’m a mom, I haven’t gotten that far yet.)

Most of all, I think I’m looking forward to all the fun coming out and the Katy Perry tie-in for the 25th Anniversary! Should be a lot of fun…and probably over the top cute! Plus, I have a tough time picking favorites, lol.

Do you have a Favorite Pokémon? Which will you or did you start with Shield or Sword? Did we choose right? And really, the big question, which part of Pokémon history hits you the most? I know we all have our favorite Pokémon memories, and mine has to be my child’s discovery of it, always fun seeing a new generation get attached to a thing from my past.
