So, who is this Felicia??? Figured it was time for more formal introductions. I know some of this was covered in Welcome to Ello Felicia, but for those new or wanting to know a bit more about me.

I’m Felicia, advocate, creator, and owner of Ello Felicia.

This blog has been in the back of my mind for far too long. There were topics that I had been dying to write forever. They never really fitted the platform I was writing on, so it was definitely time to rectify that. A few of my San Diego Moms Co. buddies were instrumental in me sharing them.

Eventually, I had this domain reserved, though the domain and site sat for a whole year and then some before kick-off (even with my partner pushing). I just had fallen into work and survival mode and this project had fallen to the sidelines. I have to say I’m slightly thankful for COVID layoffs and really thankful for a push from Melissa McClure to make this a time for action. Make the most out of a weird pandemic situation.

Okay, more about me.

As you may have gathered, I’m a HUGE nerd! Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the show) being my number one. I actually had a BTVS fansite in High school, and no, I will not link it, but last time I searched it was still up, lol. The nerdom doesn’t stop there. For those that didn’t know I am a chairperson of a local Star Wars group. Comic-Con is a must for my family and me, even years without tickets we had to partake in all the free offsites.

Mostly, I am totally musically obsessed! Filled with random trivia. Depeche Mode, David Bowie, and Placebo being the most important to me. Like the most own, must-see. My default musically choices. One of my biggest bragging points is I have a Depeche Mode tattoo and was autographed by Dave Gahan (the lead singer). Well, I got that tattooed on to, of course.

My friends associate all these little obsession things with me and I love it! Depeche Mode on the radio, I get a text. Any bit of a Labyrinth mention and I get a Facebook share, hehe. They know me well. (Btw, the blog is inspired by Labyrinth if you haven’t figured that out yet.) So, yes, a little bit goth.

But, first and foremost, I am a mother. My child has hit their tween years and has also come out as a non-binary and pan person, or at times opting to just go by the term “Queer” to make it more simplified. Through this journey with them, I have learned more about the community that I had not even realized! This is where the passion for spreading knowledge comes in. Honestly, I had never stopped to realize that LGBTQ+ History had never been taught in schools until I was having to supplement it.

I also didn’t really realize all terms. I knew just the surface level, but one day in one of the classes we were taking it hit me! Like, I am actually Pansexual! Though I’ve always lived a Cis-Heteronormative life, so it just never would had thought until I sat and really learned. I mean, my first crush was David Bowie as Jareth. Had a massive crush on Brian Molko…so, well, I guess it should have been easy to figure out that gender conformity didn’t mean much to me. Lol.

una - usa san diego

Thanks to my sharing of LGBTQ+ Rights I was fortunate enough to catch the eye of The San Diego chapter of UNA-USA and was recognized as one of 2020’s Sustainable Development Advocates. I am still surprised!

Interesting how things evolve.

As for the rest of our household dynamics, I am a divorcee. Rarely do I talk about it, but the ex was my “high school sweetheart” and we had a really rough path. There was a lot of wrong in those nearly 20 years and I chose to ignore, push through, and one day, it was over. At the moment it wasn’t great and I fought hard to hold onto what I knew, but in hindsight, I am so extremely thankful!!!

I had learned so much through that process, found some true friends,  and meet the most amazing partner. With all my walls up and cautious steps my child and I fell in love. We were so lucky to have found him. He’s a balance we didn’t know we needed and the irony, he was just one of my dating app adventures that I didn’t expect much from. (FYI, dating app was the kid’s push, and that story to be shared.)

I am thankful for every step in my life that has gotten me to this point. I love being able to share and write about all my passions. And, I am ever so thankful for you, all my readers, followers, and supporters. I see all your shares and love and it is all so appreciated!

Thank you!
